what anesia is talking about is not "selling your own property." you can sell your property to whoever you want anytime you want with no interference.

she is talking about when the gov't ACQUIRES your property for a public purpose. obviously, if the gov't is taking your property, they are involved in the transaction.

She's a bright lady. And very passionate. Hope to hear more from her in the future. Little early to be making her a PM, though. One step at a time, lol. A good thing about both campaigns is the fact that a lot of young people have come to the fore. Vynette Fredrick, Anesia Baptiste, Luke Brown, Rochelle Forde, Saboto Caeaser, Sehon Marshal, Maff Russel, etc. Also good to see 3 national scholars -- anesia, luke and saboto -- all coming back home to contribute. many times the national scholars get big jobs overseas and don't return home, much less get into the public sphere.

And I agree with saadiss that there have not been enough women running for public office. i think everyone agrees with that. that's why the new constitution has that clause that political parties should try to have at least 30% woman (and 30% men) on their ticket. that will make parties look harder at their talented women who they might have been overlooking becuz they're not part of the "boys club"

Vincy Patriot, the clause that political parties should try to have at least 30% women on their ticket is even more reason to VOTE YES for the NEW CONSTITUTION on November 25, 2009.

That clause has already been with us -- it is a United Nations target SVG almost achieved that figure in 1999 under the NDP -- we stood at 29% of women candidacy. But is that % really equal (30 vs 70)? So as Vincy Patriot said 30/30 -- maybe the other 40 are beast!1

But oh how interesteing -- we see it fit to speak to recommendation of the United Nations --- why don't we do the same as it relates to the Human Rights Commission in the proposed constitution?

She do have energy but i would not recommend her to be on the NDP ticket.

Due to the fact she was a gov't supporter who switched because of a misunderstanding between them. She also was a seventh day who decided that they wasn't seeing her views so she then started her own church.

I think she would be trouble in the party if they don't see eye to eye.

She would be an asset though in nation building.

Vincy2dbone..What the fuck are you saying...Are we not allowed to switch allegiance or make some noise if your views are not in sync with others?...and she starts her own church?,,,AND?...maybe the preacher was talking nonsense...and she decided she doesn't have to sit there listening to the crap..why hold that over her head?...

Do you recommend her for the ULP ticket?...I suspect that this lady is not a bootlicker...and will make noise regardless of where she goes...so she would be an asset in nation building...but she is not good enoug to be on the NDP ticket...mm...logic don't fail me now...

I think the lady got more than energy...she got courage to get up on the stage and articulate a point of view...I think at a time when there is a level of FEAR among the Vincy populace, to speak openly about their politcal convictions....it is truly commendable that a ordinary citizen could take the step to go before the public and express her feelings in such a manner...so I take issue with the tone of your post...your are belittling the woman on very flimsy reasoning...

I am not saying she should run on ULP ticket i am not concerned about ULP, but as i have figured one cannot have a point of view on this forum would out being cussed out.

I'm not disputing the fact that she wouldn't be good to run on NDP ticket but she could also bring trouble into the party which have some friction already.

I'm disappointed in your approach Saadiss.

Vincy2dbone...you seem offended..mm...are you that thin skin..lol..anyway..once again you are simply being naive..which political party you know of is free of "friction?"...I am not cussing you...just merely expressing myself in way that you find troubling...I am sort of an adversarial person...plus this is a public forum, ole talk is the order of the day...why take things so personal that you feel the need to tell me you are "disappointed" in my approach,...come on...if you not into ole talk, just ignore it and state your case...I can afford to say the things I say..cause i have no fucking clue as to who I am talking to...for all I know you could be some psychopath sitting behind a computer... DON'T KNOW, NOR DO I CARE...if you adopt that attitude then you would not be preaching to me or anyone else on a public forum in the future...capiche?...

So lets move on...all in all you do not think this lady is READY FOR PRIME TIME...ok fair enough...I just wanted to canvass some opinions on what folks thought of her...I think she is a WORK IN PROGRESS...my only reservation is that she is, from what you have stated...a deeply religious person..I am not sure if religion and politics goes hand in hand..in fact I know they don't...but who knows, if she can find that balance of doing the lords work and not compromising such work with her political convictions..then all the power to her...

I think we need to encourage more of our women folk to get into politics...I think Vincyland needs a WOMAN'S TOUCH AT THE MOMENT...THESE MALE POLITICIANS ARE DOING TOO MUCH NONSENSE FOR FAR TOO LONG...HAND OVER THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LADY...AT LEAST, SHE WOULD ASK FOR DIRECTIONS!!...LOL..

vincy2dbone..let me egage you for a while...I just saw this apology from Anesia...isn't this a sign of CLASS that one CAN rise above the fray and recognise when something or someone is outta place to say so and issue an apology?...it is hard to imagine our hubris-prone PRIME MINISTER DOING SUCH A THING...I am just saying...what you think?

Editor: Recently there was an incident involving a candidate for elections which caused shame and embarrassment to our country. I wish to say that this is not representative of a country whose rights and freedoms are being attacked in a Constitutional Reform process. It is not helpful and indeed did not show a good face or paint a good image of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

As a concerned citizen and Associate Director of a non-governmental organization with responsibility for human rights and freedoms education - The Thusian Institute for Religious Liberty - I would like to make a special apology to the Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, and to the European Union Officials who thought it fit to give funding to help with the development of the Tourism industry in this country.

I would like them to know that this behavior is not indicative of what this country believes and that we are a people who are indeed grateful for help and development from foreign countries like the Union they represent. I truly regret that this happened and wish all Vincentians to understand that this behavior is not helpful and is not to be encouraged even where a person may be aggrieved for one reason or the other. May God help us to do the right thing always.”

I do agree she have some class, but on the other had she shouldn't be making an apology for Dinky when she's not a member of NDP and seeing that Dinky and the party he represents shows no remorse (to my knowledge).

I think you misunderstood me at first I'm not disputing that she have good intentions but she can get carried away by her passion and only see things her way just like the Doc.

Let me ask you this would you say she have the same passion as a young Ralph Gonsalves?

Trust me when I say I fully understood your position...however, I disagreed on the basis of your reasoning...but we dealt with that issue…so lets move on...

Yes the NDP should have taken the initiative to issue an apology...but I am not privy to all of the facts surrounding this incident...but the fact remains that this lady showed a level of class not often seen by these veteran politicians; including Eustace and RALPH...that we can agree on...as Nandi Lowe pointed out in another post...we need MORE ANESIA(s)

On the issue of comparing her with a YOUNG Ralph Gonsalves...I will say this...there are very few politicians in the HISTORY OF VINCYLAND who possess the sort of ZEAL that RALPH GONSALVES HAVE DEMONSTRATED OVER THE YEARS...so on that subject of passion...Anesia is not in the same league with a YOUNG Ralph...its simply too EARLY to compare her with Ralph in every faucet of politics...I DO NOT AGREE WITH RALPH POLITICS...but he is undeniably one of the best politicians VINCYLAND EVER PRODUCE...

What I will say about Anesia...is she maybe the most PASSIONATE FEMALE SPEAKER ON A POLITICAL STAGE WE HAVE SEEN IN VINCYLAND...Rene has been around for a while…but she is not a very good public speaker...and the reason that Anesia is so comfortable on the stage is for the simple fact she has a PREACHER'S MINDSET...the simple fact that she is comfortable enough to create her own church, implies that she is very confident in her speaking abilities to preach to an audience...Public speaking is not as easy as it looks...it takes a level of confidence to get up on a stage and articulate a view point that the folks could understand...James Mitchell and Ralph Gonsalves are the two finest examples of this art form...what has happen to RALPH GONSALVES OVER THE YEARS...warning: Ralph bashing ahead…lol…HE HAS BEEN FALLING BACK TO HIS EARLIER YEARS OF IDEOLOGICAL PURSUITS...so his rhetoric of late has been cloaked in A LEFTIST doctrine that has alienated a lot of folks in Vincyland therby created a sharply polarized nation.

In my honest opinion...RALPH's had the potential to be a GREAT LEADER IN CARIBBEAN POLITICS BUT his ... schizophrenic ideology has crippled such potential and so you have someone who does things for political expedience rather than doing what is in the BEST INTEREST OF THE NATION...before there was an OBAMA...we had a YOUNG RALPH captivating VINCYLAND back in the day with is oratory skills...he had PASSION to give away...but he NEVER abandon the leftist doctrine...he never MATURED IDEOLOGICALLY...he never UNDERSTOOD THAT VINCENTIANS never bought into the Castro and Bishop way of thinking...I think he missed the OPPURTUNITY TO BE THE OBAMA OF VINCYLAND…He has the sort of intellect to bring the country together as a NATION after the LONG divisive reign of the NDP…Ralph had the chance to stop with this OLD DOTISH POLITRICKS of divide and conquer; instead he adopt and mastered this strategy to perfection…he was no different from the politicians before him in this regard...Ralph must be seen as the BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF ANY POLITICIAN IN VINCYLAND…trust me when I tell you this guy was admired by folks from both parties…but his tendency to vacillate from one set of principles to another...has greatly diminish his ability to be the a great LEADER...HAVING PASSION IS NOT ENOUGH.

Sorry for the expose` on Ralph...I have a tendency to talk too much!!...lol
