Andy, this is EASILY one of the BETTER YEARS for VINCY MUSIC in the NEW MILLENNIUM. TRINIDAD doesn't COME CLOSE to the YEAR SVG is CURRENTLY is HAVING. They're not even in the EQUATION. One has to WAIT and see what Barbados is coming with for CROPOVER to CHALLENGE SVG as the BEST for 2010.

2010 is one of the WORSE YEARS for TRINI MUSIC in a VERY LONG TIME.

Its ROAD MARCH SONG, "PALANCE," is one of the WORSE that I have HEARD and it has been the CONSENSUS all over.

You will have to go back to 2002 when NAYA GEORGE won the ROAD MARCH with "TRINIDAD" to RIVAL the SHIT that won ROAD MARCH this year for TRINIDAD.

VINCY MUSIC
The calypso Semi-finalists have been chosen and while I am not entirely familiar with all the songs yet...the exclusion of Abijah and Rejector seem to be an ERROR OF OMISSION...somebody explain to me how these two guys didn't make the semi-finals...I have no idea what went down with these guys in the preliminaries but they must have phucked up terribly for them to be exlcuded from the semi-finals...the funny thing is..this just dawn on me while ah was looking at the list of semifinalists...ah had to scan the list about ten times cause to me it was foregone conclusion that these two guys were in the semi-finals...Abijah has a very good commentary and Rejector has a song that could win the crown...so I am not sure how exactly did these guys manage to miss the boat;especially Rejector...ah think a national enquiry is needed..lol...GIVE LEXI THE CROWN..ITS OVER!!

The 22 Semi-Finalists were announced on the weekend, following the preliminaries last week.

The On-Tour Calypso Tent received the most picks for the Semi-Finals, with nine being chosen: Vibrating Scakes, Ipa, Patches, Zion-I, Struggler, Man Zangy, Ranking Bash, Sherika and Soharo.

From the Graduates Calypso Tent the semi-finalists are: Bo Salt, Black Messenger, Lexi, Sunny Banks, Jah Burke, Bump-I, Sulle and Tajo.

Exposer, Brother Don and Striker were chosen from the Dynamite Calypso Tent and Brother Ebony and G.C from the Upstage Experience Tent.
Andy I remeber that gentleman. Let me correct you if I may in some sense of the word. I was working, at the time, with a local telecommunications provider. Everything was in place for that to happen. CDC had already given the approval and the streaming was to be done using the "FREE" internet service that my former employers were providing at Victoria Park via CDC office. However it was due to the persuasive nature of the likes of Dick Mcleish aka MR.SVGTV, that approval was withdrawn. The excuse given to the gentleman was that there was just not enough mileage in it for CDC. I'll tell you what I think it is... Dick felt that if this content was streamed via the internet, People would be less interested in that Sorry-Ass, rip-off he calls Carnival Highlights seeing that they would havce already seen it. That then would translate into a loss of money for uncle DICK. Him being on the Board of henchmen and crooks that make up the CDC, they will all glad comply with his concerns.
So andy there goes the clarification...
POWER WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED BY? THE FACT THAT CDC AND LOTTO HAS BEEN HANDSOMLY PAYING 1 PARTICULAR ARTISTE, FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS, TO NOT SHOW UP ON THE MONDAY TRUCK THAT THEY ADVERTISE HIM TO BE ON.
ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED AT THE FACT THAT MEMBERS OF THE CDC ARE EACH GIVEN AN AVERAGE OF 150 SOCA MONARCH TICKETS EACH YEAR FOR PERSONAL USE. YET $10000 GO MISSING BETWEEN THE TICKET BOTH AND THE CDC OFFICE.
ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED WHEN GLEN BEACH ANNOUNCES THAT $10000 US IS BEING SPENT TO PUT A VINCY T-SHIRT BAND ON THE ROAD FOR LABOUR DAY IN BROOKLYN. WHEN LABOUR DAY ORGANIZERS STRICTLY PROHIBITS T-SHIRT BANDS.
ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED WHEN CDC ALLOW THE LIKES OF "FITZ HUGGINS" TO DICTATE WHAT HAPPENS AT CARNIVAL SHOWS ALL BECAUSE "LIME" IS A MAJOR SPONSOR.
ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED WHEN CDC OR THE GOVERNMENT FOR THAT MATTER, REFUSES TO PUT PROPER COPY RIGHT LEGISLATION IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE HARD WORK OF ITS TALENTED CITIZENS ON THE GROUNDS THAT "IT WILL ONLY BENEFIT A FEW INDIVIDUALS AND NOT THE MASSES" AS PER QUOTE FROM THE GOOD DR. HIMSELF.
ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED BY THE FACT THAT THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES ARE NOT PUTTING REGULATIONS IN PLACE TO ENSURE THAT LOCAL TALENT, AND NOT SOME FOREIGN FREAK SHOW, REAP THE FINANCIAL BENEFITS FROM OUR OWN "VINCY MAS"
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I HAVE MISSED ON THE LIST OF IMPRESSIONABLE THINGS...
Damnnnn...ease up bro..lol...Soca blood, you seem to be a person well informed...could you shed some light on the Calypso Semi-finalists; I am very curious as to how Abijah and Rejector didn't make the semi-finals.

As for CDC ; are you saying that the CDC is a corrupt entity; with individuals pilfering the financial resources of the organization and that the Government is tacitly involved in all these shenanigans...Is this what you are saying bro?

The CDC has been short changing "VINCY MAS" FOR A LONG TIME and none of the respective Governments saw the need to revamp the organization or held them to a high standard of transparency and accountability. Every year for Carnival; there is some bassa bassa with CDC and its affiliates; its time the Government pay more attention to this organization that is in charged of our NATIONAL FESTIVAL or otherwise we would not have a festival to boast about. Not long ago we use to laugh at Barbados crop over; now they have surpassed us in terms of organization and the quality of their various components especially in the area of music...Vincy costumes are still of a higher standard but you can see improvement over the years with the Bajan costumes...its just a matter of time before they surpass us in this regard if we continue to spin top in mud and short changing VINCY MAS.
SOCA BLOOD, I stopped READING the FART of a POST after the part about "ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED WHEN GLEN BEACH ANNOUNCES THAT $10000 US IS BEING SPENT TO PUT A VINCY T-SHIRT BAND ON THE ROAD FOR LABOUR DAY IN BROOKLYN. WHEN LABOUR DAY ORGANIZERS STRICTLY PROHIBITS T-SHIRT BANDS."

Let me HELP U out a BIT...it came out in 2005

-Carib parade says T-shirts fit after all

BY LESLIE CASIMIR
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

You won't need a costume to take part in this year's West Indian American Day Carnival Parade after all - just a nice T-shirt to match your fellow marchers.
After weeks of bickering that had Jamaicans, Haitians and other Caribbean immigrants decrying discrimination, organizers of the parade said they'll allow T-shirt bands on Brooklyn's Eastern Parkway. But there is a caveat:

Revelers who follow flatbed trucks carrying their favorite musicians must wear matching T-shirts.

"We were not trying to keep [certain] people out," said Jean Alexander, spokeswoman for the 38th annual parade, who announced the T-shirt ban in July to the chagrin of many Caribbean immigrants. "We explained to them fully, and they understand and they are willing to work with us. There were no hard feelings."

The agreement was reached Wednesday night at the parade's Crown Heights headquarters among T-shirt band leaders, City Council members and police officials.

Some West Indians believe that the carnival is also a music event and not just for parading in costumes, which can be a costly undertaking. But the parade's organizers, many of whom hail from Trinidad, want to maintain the carnival's original tradition of elaborate costumes.

Floats with participants in costumes will also go first and T-shirt bands will follow at the end.

T-shirt band representatives said they were pleased that a compromise had been reached. But many worry that the police still will have their work cut out for them. Parade watchers in their street clothes usually jump in the procession anyway.

"I applaud the parade organizers for their efforts and I support the decision," said Robert Clarke, president and CEO of Irie Jam radio station, WRTN (93.5 FM). "But it's going to take a lot of work."

I SUGGEST that you GET your FACTS STRAIGHT next TIME you SPEWING your NONSENSE.
THE WORD OF THE DAY IS "ACCOUNTABILITY". CDC DOES NOT EVEN PRODUCE A PUBLIC FINANCIAL STATEMENT AT THE END OF THE SEASON OR YEAR. THE LAST TIME THEY DID SUCH A THING THERE WAS A $350,000 MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES "BOO BOO" THAT THEY THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD NOTICE....
SOCA BLOOD, YES, the WORD of the DAY is ACCOUNTABILITY. So TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY for the LIE that you TOLD about T-SHIRT BANDS being PROHIBITED on LABOUR DAY on EASTERN PARKWAY in BROOKLYN.

But hey, that is all the NDP and their FOLLOWERS are GOOD for, TELLING LIES.

LIES will not GET U ANYWHERE in LIFE, because you're just going to CONTINUE to be a LOSER.
Sula..noooooooooooooo!!!...lol...truth be told I have not seen crop over cosutmes in a while and maybe I was being bit zealous in my pronouncement. Well that just shows how far off Vincy Mas has fallen...lets hope that when the NDP takes over..they will get rid of CDC and have a new organization with a fresh batch of folks who could do a better job of making Vincy Mas a product of high quality and who values transparency and accountability.

By the way Tajo did make the Semi-finals..but I am still at loss as to how Abijah and Rejector not in the Semi's...now ah listen to a program last night and they were reviewing some of the songs that made the semi's..and I listened to Abijah and Rejector's performance...now I will be honest and say that they did not have a particularly outstanding performance...but this is preliminaries!!!...you know these guys will bring it in the later rounds. Abijah and Rejector's song on the basis of music and lyrics ought to be given the benefit of doubt and be given a pass for the Semi's....you know some of those guys in the semis finals are going to bomb big time....Rejector's especially, should have gotten a pass...I think the band phucked up Rejector's performance...and while Abijah may have fallen short in his execution; I still think he deserves to be in the semi-finals...again this is the phucking prelimanaries,...you cannot or should not sacrifice the big guns on mere technicalities unless its glaring to the point of unacceptable. Yes I am being totally bias...but I am looking at the bigger picture...I want to see the guns in the semi-finals and finals fighting for the crown....I AM NOT SURE IF THE FINALS WOULD BE ONE OF A HIGH STANDARD...i am just saying...the judges phucked up big time...if Abijah and Rejector's songs were CRAP then I wouldn't mind...but those are two quality songs that patrons would not hear in the semi-finals much less the finals...who are these judges? Off with their phucking heads...ok ok no violence please...just throw some bulwood pon dem....peace...lol
SAADISS, YOUHIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THE REJECTOR ISSUE AND THE BAND.......A BIT OF INFO FOR YOU. THE SONG WAS DONE HERE IN TORONTO BY OSSIE GURLEY AND WHILE WE WERE IN STUDIO, THE ONE THING WE KEPT SAYING IS THAT WE HOPE THE BAND WILL BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE SONG.WE WERE REALLY WORRIED THAT THIS WOULD BE THE OUTCOME. THE BAND WAS WAY TOO LOUD AND SOMETIMES RUSHING THE TRACK......HENCE THE OUTCOME
The NDP KILLED RURAL CARNIVAL....they KILLED PAN....they KILLED VINCY MAS...they KILL NINE MORNINGS...they KILLED CULTURE....the NDP WILL NEVER EVER GOVERN this NATION again....not the NDP with JAMES MITCHELL still PULLING the STRINGS and not with the PUPPET and FIGURE HEAD EUSTACE at the HELM.

I know its a bit late powa, but I just noticed that you called me out on this. That press release you posted was since 2005. I was in the states in 2005. 2006, and 2007, and I distinctly remember that they banned tshirt bands from the parkway in 2006. These people had to stay on the side. So yes Mr. Beache was a bit off about the money allegedly spent to put a vincy Tshirt band on the road. And not only was it against the rules, there was no resemblance to any organized vincy group, posse nor crew. A few patriots such as myself went to Ackmeds Store and purchased our own national colors. bllleeeeehhhhh...
