There will be no CHANGE coming because the GOVERNING PARTY has DEMONSTRATED that, in this GLOBAL ECONOMIC DOWNTURN, it is the BEST MANAGED in the OECS.

Why would you CHANGE that FACT for a party with HISTORY of POOR MANAGEMENT and with its LEADER, ARNHIM EUSTACE, who has BEEN SCHOOLED THOROUGHLY in the BUDGETR DEBATE in a FIELD he is supposed to be PROFICIENT in, showing CLEAR SIGNS that he is not READY to be an EFFECTIVE, CREATIVE and DECISIVE LEADER?

Vincentians will not make TWO MISTAKES in a ROW, so I will EXPECT the GOVERNING PARTY to be reelected to CONTINUE MOVING this NATION FORWARD.
The economy is not the best at the moment, lots of difficult and challenging times ahead,The best person to take us through these challenging time is the Comrade,he is the man who can make the difference, look at how best he is managing with these difficult conditions,The Opposition is just bent on criticizing without proposing, they have too many acts to grind I heard EG Lynch today talking about how some persons should be looking for jons because their party will win,so we can see the victimization that they are complaining about will start all over again NDP style,I am encouraging all to rally around the ULP,support forward thinking individuals who have the country at heart...VOTE FOR PROGRESS VOTE ULP!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Graham! with all due respect to the bretheren...what is the point of this topic? Are you paying attention to the "going ons" of this forum?...As an Employee and well known, respected, individual of this Radio Station; you are expected to show some leadership whenever you engage the members of this forum...hence, if you are going to INTRODUCE A NEW TOPIC ON THE FORUM...let it be in fact "NEW"..Damn! I think you are insulting folks here bro...Are you really asking folks here what they think of the present political state of SVG?...really bro?...were you in a coma of some sort?...Have you not seen the NUMEROUS TOPICS AND POSTS ALREADY HERE that ARE ALL ABOUT THE POLITICAL STATE OF SVG?...I expect this from other individuals who luv to post topic after topic regardless of how stupid it may look...but coming from you, a higher standard is expected. bro, rather than posting a repetiton of topics...I personally would like to hear your OWN PERSONAL VIEWS ON THE SAID ISSUE...ARE YOU WILLING TO ARTICULATE A PERSONAL VIEW ON THE POLITICAL STATE OF SVG?...if you are not willing to do so..then I suggest, you at least post a "NEW" topic OR stick to what you do best...
Saadiss.....your words are strong and take them with great humility and agree with you ...you are very mush right!.
i have never been one to get involved in politics all because people can be very thin skinned and very strong about their views, where i respect each an everyone stands on their political views i have been following the blogs for a very long time...just choose to keep silent ...but one cant help but notice the present political state in svg and not have a view on things....so i guess this post was a way of me finally getting involved.

First let me start off by saying RIGH NOW i have no allegiance to no party...in the past i voiced adds for the ULP and even voted for them...i am not ashamed of that its my RIGHT as a citizen of SVG. i also have the right to change my stance if i feel the need given on how well a party runs the country or not.

with that said....when i voted for the ULP i voted for change...like everyone else we all felt a change was welcomed and so did i.....as a child i grew up hearing my mother and father talk for and against the NDP...cause in my house my mother and father was not on the same side....and funny my bother and i was not on the same side as i slowly became a man and openly talked about my support for the ULP, while my brother being a body guard for the then PM J F Mitchell was a Strong supporter of the NDP.

But times have changed...so to has the government....and i was happy when the changed came...and still happy for a lot that the ULP has done for the country ..cause we must admit they did sum good...like any NEW government will do....what people need to remember is that both parties did both good and bad...fair is fair. we have a habit of always pointing out the BAD and not remembering the good. however like i said things have changed.

my take on politics is this...we put you there to serve us..we tend to forget this as a people..we feel we put you there and thats it ....and is the politicians are doing US a favor...we forget is we put them there and if we not happy about how they doing their jobs we have all right to complain and even vote them out.

NOW...thats the present state of things in SVG right now... ant it? the country is divided in two.. one side is saying they not happy with how things are going and how the leader is leading his members and more so the country and he MOST GO... and the others said is saying all is well and the other said just name calling and trying to pull down the government ....what i cant understand is why is that when people speak out others get vex...but when they speak out we must understand....why do we have to be such hypocrites. why cant we just accept one another's views with respect.

i think both sides have strong points but we as a people ...(well most of us) will never see it that way cause we sooooo much in love with our party and party leaders we not willing to accept things from either side.... and its a shame.

HERE IS MY VIEW. of both parties. and this is MY VIEW vex who want to VEX.

ULP flaws....where Ralph might be a good leader and well respected in sum areas globally he has one problem thats bring down the ULP and his ULP government. he has to many YES people around him and NON who is willing to STAND up to him and tell him like it is...you CANT NOT ALWAYS BE RIGHT!....and when you not in touch with the people and cant hear the voice of the people who might be feeling the squeeze of the hard economic time, cause EVERYONE around telling you YES comrade ALL IS GOOD ....all because things good with YOU so you dont care how ANYONE ELSE is living. my one advice to the PM would BE walk away from all the YES people you have around you, who are to afraid to speak out all cause at the end off the day we dont wanna lose the JOB we have cause we all have a MORTGAGE to pay.

MR PM..LISTEN to the people they put you there ...THEY alone CAN MOVE YOU.
leaders have to be able to hear the cry of the people and work to help their needs. JUST LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE. thats all they want.

NDP...this party was voted out of power MAINLY cause people had ENUFF...and wanted changed....but now they feel another Change coming.... IF SO..Dirty Politics is not the way to go...WHY do we keep forgetting THE PEOPLE.
here is a CHANCE if any to redeem your self. if i am to VOTE NDP is only one how thats gonna happen...if i am not happy about the ULP and how they running things...thats already a PLUS for you....working towards gettting me to vote for you as i was already a UPL supporter SHOULD BE YOUR GOAL...MAKE ME WANNA VOTE FOR YOU. i am sorry but i feel your party has a need to pull its self together with a field of strong candidates....right now i have NO clue apart from the present members in opposition...show me YOU are HUNGRY TO LEAD and why you are SO HUNGRY...deal with the real ISSUES like how you gonna easy up things for poor people...how you gonna fix the CRIME in our country how you gonna LOOk after our HEALTH care system..( OUR HOSPITAL NEEDS HELP ).
this is the stuff i wanna see you doing....stop fighting the PM....if he dont wanna hear the cry of the people then to HIS END...DONT MAKE IT YOURS.

RIGHT NOW.... LETS FORGET PETTY POLITICS...WHO DO THIS AND WHO DO THAT....i wanna hear how we gonna fix the problem facing our country right now....

the economy... banana is dead.... tourism needs help...what are we gonna turn to?

our young people need HELP...how do we get them off the streets and get them back into the working environment?

our public service is corrupt how do we clean it up?

and i can go on.....

YET we hop and skip around these issues and pleating stones at each other..WHO Thief?...who RAPE?

and all this does is entertain the small mined and leaves us divided and distracted from the REAL ISSUES.

who ever really deals with the ISSUES this up coming elections will GET MY VOTE.

MY VOTE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
It's obvious that SVG has some SCULPTURED issues. If, with a clear conscience, you can determine how we got to this point of having all these issues as a country, you'll have no question as to what we have to do to get out of it.
I jus wanna tell the ULP they might win some but they jus lost one.NDP mi say.I help put the ULP in power Abut like that SUESUE man want all the power, my boss u r Americans said to me look at the kind of friends your priminister is keeping and that was clear to me i say nothing more.Am not gonna vote for an airport am gonna vote for a better country,i hate planes but i will tell u I LOVE MY COUNTRY.
SMH@JOE

JOE, you should tell your American BOSS that COMMUNIST CHINA owns CLOSE to a TRILLION DOLLARS of AMERICA'S DEBT.

What do you think he is going to say?
it have alot of intelligent people watching this country go down and they still defending this leader, but i will tell u man rather darkness than light.every body think satan is ugly but my friend do u think God will make an ugly angal jus remember that the BIBLE said that the anti-chriss going and help people he's going an feed the hungry and do all kind of good things for people but what gonna happen next. if u don't kno plzzz, read your BIBLE.(THIS IS FOR THE PEPLE WHO THINK THEY HAVE THE BRAIN)intelligent not sence i can hardly read and write but am not stupid.bigup to the HOTEST radio on EARTH (HOT 97)
Joe you don't sound like you sure why u voting NDP, the country going down seems to be the new talk of the day but yet people bringing two and three vehicles in the country, massive houses going up around the country, compaines expanding, poor people pickney like me getting a chance to at better education and so on. The country is feeling a squeeze no doubt but show me a country who ain't feeling it. Even the great USA.

ULP hurt some of us and they played the ass but that don't mean we must just run to the next person, who really might be the Anti-Christ according to JOE. People voted for Obama because he preached changed has much changed? what's his ratings?

We need to stop being petty and look at the bigger picture, JOE who organized the relations between SVG & Cuba? and if u don't want us to be friends with Iran, Venezuela and Cuba can u suggest which of the G7 willing to help us?

We are supposedly independent so why we want to make someone else tell us who our friends should be, the bad thing is some people don't know better and the opposition is not helping. Are they going to cut ties with these countries totally?

Everyone is free to vote for whom they deem suitable to run the country as we are a democratic country, we would not allow communist here & I wouldn't stand for it, so if NDP think by running that down my throw gonna make me vote for them come again.

The NDP is just riding on the ULP short comings that's all, so if they win is by defult, because lets be honest they not informing us on what they will do. It's probably a smart move so when they get there if they do that is they can never say they promised us this and that.

Saadiss bredren u need to respect peoples views also POWA, at the end of the day we want the same thing a better SVG.

As Vincy said "VOTE FOR PROGRESS VOTE ULP!!!!!!!!!!!"
Mr Graham, I can truly appreciate the manner in which you responded to my post and the level of discourse put forth. I can only hope to emulate your standard.

I am in TOTAL AGREEMENT WITH ALL OF WHAT YOU HAVE STATED HERE...As someone who is oppose to the way the Country is being run; I am also wary of the NDP shortcomings. I believe the NDP is in a perfect position to unseat the incumbent; but as you rightly pointed out, the NDP has to show the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines that they are ready to GOVERN. I have a sneaking suspicion, reading between the lines that you are on the verge of voting NDP...but its all a matter of NDP show their mettle and vision…right?...lol.

Let me say POLITICS IN OF ITSELF IS AN ADVERSERIAL discipline...And so while I agree with you that all the name calling and mud slinging is detrimental to true enlightenment and social decorum…the reality of the situation, is that in order to get your point across; you have to throw some what I like to call "bulwood" on some people. I would love to see the day a Vincentian POLITICIAN TAKE THE HIGH ROAD AND JUST DEAL WITH THE ISSUES THAT MOST AFFECT THE MASSES...unfortunately we have not seen that politician yet...and if I am press to name a politician that is close to such characteristics; I would say Eustace...but that’s just my opinion...I still think Eustace is far from such an ideal politician.

Well, you said that you follow the blogs on this forum or somethin to that effect; so I am assuming you have a fair idea where I stand on the political state of SVG...but just in case you may have overlooked my many posts...here is a “synopsis” of what I think is the political state of St Vincent and the Grenadines. I will basically touch on three broad issues. There are THREE PILLARS of support that A SOCIETY IS REST UPON...SECURITY, EDUCATION...HEALTH...but before I touch on those issues...let me just say something on the overall political strategy of the ULP.

Ralph Gonsalves and the ULP have done a very good job in transforming the landscape of Vincyland by implementing a policy of constructing numerous projects, some will say with far too much haste; but to their credit...they are doing something. And that is where we become stuck in heaping praise on the ULP. The ULP and Gonsalves can boast to eternity about building more projects than any other Government before them...but when you look deeper and beyond those projects…what do you have? NONE of the MAJOR projects are COMPLETE and in operation; so we can have some sort of definitive analysis on the impact it has on the lives of Vincentians. The Airport project I SUPPORT FROM DAY ONE…but the manner in which the airport is being undertaken at the moment, leaves a lot to be desired. The other projects are WORK-IN-PROGRESS and the ULP is hoping that the people of Vincyland will reelect them back on the basis of these projects. And this is where the ULP comes in for a lot of criticism...their aim was to embark on a ton load of PROJECTS irrespective of how it may impact on the financial burden of the Nation and how FEW VINCENTIANS ARE WORKING ON THESE PROJECTS IN RELATION TO FOREIGNERS...their goal is to show that they are doing things that they had promise…yes that’s all good...but there is something call fiscal responsibility and I am not sure Ralph Gonsalves is aware of such a concept. And why is it with all these projects, things still so hard for Vincentians to find a job?..you will think with the construction of the Airport..that would have created a ton load of jobs directly or indirectly...can anyone of the Ralphites disabuse me of such thinking?...I await your response.

But building projects is not the only requisite for GOOD GOVERNANCE…The people has to have a feeling of well being within themselves and a SENSE that the country is heading in the right direction; infrastructural, morally and financially…The ULP has a passing grade on one subject-infrastructure …on the other two subjects, we are going to hell in a hand basket.

Now, that being said…let me touch briefly on the THREE PILLARS that I made mention of:

[...to be continued]
Part II of "three pillars"...

Security-The crime rate seems to be of no interest to the Government....As long as the Prime Minister has is own personal "army" to protect him...all is fine...If the Prime Minister who is the head of Security in the country had an iota of genuine interest in tackling the crime wave that has overwhelm Vincyland...he would have fired the Police Commissioner yesterday...this is what a Government does…PROTECT ITS PEOPLE FROM HARM.

The level of criminal activities have gone from one of “crack-head” underpinnings to one of “Nino Brown” style of handling business. Never before, have Vincentians witness such callous disregard for life… individuals of the society are found murdered in the most disgraceful and humiliating circumstances. Take for example, a female getting beheaded in public; people getting kidnapped and murdered; females being sexually assaulted with impunity; …drug dealers openly flaunting their wealth; young females are sold by their guardians to unscrupulous “money men”; young men prostitutingthemselves for expensive sneakers; young females are impregnated by low life men; even the Prime Minister himself seem not to be immune from the nefarious epidemic that is plaguing our society…hard working people are being held up at gun point in broad daylight! What is going on with my beloved land? And yet we have an administration that seems oblivious to what is happening. Its all about project project with this administration, nothing else is of importance…NOT EVEN YOUR LIFE!!

Education-The Government loves to boast about its EDUCATION REVOLUTION...this is a farce of the highest order. Look, the only thing the Government is doing right in terms of EDUCATION is to make available MORE avenues to send our kids overseas to study...and that in of itself is also fraught with problems; because the majority of these people are coming back with their degrees and can't find a job or put back into their same position that they are now overqualified for...when I hear the Government speak of the likes of Luke Brown, it makes me laugh...let me tell you something...there have been Vincy people far brighter than LUKE BROWN and never got to be a RHODE SCHOLAR...and this is not to diminish Luke's achievement...its just that the Government is being disingenuous when they point to Luke Browne as a byproduct of their education revolution"...it is Luke Brown tenacity and hard work that land him in this position; NOT ANY EDUCATION REVOLUTION. I dare anyone to show me precisely how the “revolution” was responsible for Luke Brown achievement...besides the obvious political connections that his parents may have...building schools and not have a set agenda to how the kids are being thought is not a revolution; Having kid promoted to a higher grade even though they have not mastered their present grade; is not a revolution; treating TEACHERS WITH CONTEMPT is not a revolution; having a LACK OF DISCIPLINE WITHIN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM FROM BOTH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IS NOT A REVOLUTION...Our Prime Minister is a PhD and was a lecturer at UWI…he knows firsthand the VALUE OF A GOOD EDUCATION…Yet the issue of EDUCATION is a not a top PRIORITY OF HIS ADMINISTRATION...just coming up with a slogan is not enough to address the issue of education and its role in the wider society. The education revolution is a hoax, a slogan, and cheap political pandering.

Health-You made mention of the Hospital...Now you will think with all the PROJECTS THAT RALPH GONSALVES AND THE ULP HAVE BOASTED ABOUT AND PLANNING TO BRING ON STREAM...THAT A STATE OF THE ART HOSPITAL WOULD BE TOP OF THE LIST...well it has been roughly 10 years since the ULP has been in office and our MAIN HOSPITAL IS A CAUSE OF DERISON AMONG OUR PEOPLE...why is that?...why is it that whenever OUR Prime Minister head hurts him he gone overseas for a Tylenol?...My argument is this...if you have so much money to build all these different projects...how about upgrading our main HOSPITAL TO A LEVEL THAT WE AS VINCENTIANS COULD FEEL JUSTLY PROUD...The Prime Minister’s son got into an accident...IT WAS NOT LIFE THREATENING!!...thank goodness…YET he was flown out to BARBADOS IMMEDIATELY FOR MEDICAL CARE...DO WE NOT HAVE THE MEDICAL EXPERTISTE TO DEAL WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AT OUR MAIN HOSPITAL?...there is something call NATIONAL PRIDE and this is where RALPH GONSALVES HAVE FALLEN SHORT. To emphasize this point of national pride I will use instances within the context of the hospital As someone who campaigned on the whole idea of changing the way things were done...Ralph Gonsalves has done more to divide the country rather than unite it...there is no SENSE OF NATIONAL UNITY IN VINCYLAND...you either ULP OR NDP...and THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN SAYING IN YOUR POST…There are some things that you just got to do without throwing it back in the people’s face…Our Hospital is a national disgrace and that shouldn’t be…Our Prime Minister shouldn’t be on National broadcast accusing the medical profession of stealing stuff…c’mon! Our Hospital shouldn’t be running short of drugs and then made into political theatre by both the opposition and the incumbent. When Vincentians get sick, not everyone could jump on a plane and go overseas for medical attention…so its imperative for a Government to make sure that the wellness of its people is a top priority and to ensure that there is a first class facility available for its citizens when sickness comes knocking on their door.

Mr Graham, we can go on and on indeed...but as I said this is just a "synopsis" of what I believe to be is the state of SVG...I am sure others will vehemently disagree…but that’s fine we can always discuss the merits of my argument in further discussions.

Its wonderful that a WELL KNOWN AND RESPECTED INDIVIDUAL OF THE VINCENTIAN SOCIETY LIKE YOURSELF COULD SHARE THEIR VIEWS ON THE STATE OF AFFAIRS WITHIN THE COUNTRY AND I APPLAUD YOU FOR DOING AS SUCH...NUFF RESPECT...by the way on a personal note...Frankie and I are very good buddies...we went to school around the same time...our schools had a fierce rivalry back in the day...but I used to come around the bishop’s grounds to lime and Frankie use to give me ole talk about coming there and talking to his girls!...lol...Frankie is my soldier...I also had the pleasure of meeting you a couple of times before you blew up Mr Graham...use to come to a certain barber right next to your residence...sshhhhhh!!..yeah we know each other, it’s a small world or should I say Vincyland is a small place!...its all good...lol..anyway..I hope the brethren come on the forum more often and just share your thoughts with the members, I AM SURE THEY WOULD LOVE TO GET YOUR FEEDBACK ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES NOT NECESSARILY ON POLITICS ALONE...I am looking forward to HEARING THE LATEST AND BEST SOCA MUSIC THAT IS ON OFFER FOR VINCY MAS 2010..and ah hope all that bacchanal with a certain group of artistes is OVER and we as a people, as Vincentians could move to bigger and better things.

Peace out.
LET US HEAR what JOMO THOMAS has to SAY about the LEADER of the NDP and the NDP in GENERAL.
