WHO THINKS THE "OFFICIAL" CARNIVAL WEBSITE LOOKS STUPID??

I said it about last years website and I'll say it for this one. The 'official" website for Vincy Mas looks so amateur that I'd rather watch paint dry. Compared to Trinidad (click me) the website looks tacky. Isn't it time they stop doing things on such small scale?

Lol..what nightlife??
i c...... trini has travel info also... i don't see info on how to get to st.vincent for all i know i could be going to Germany for carnival.....not even the sponsers.... Liat..... could say something
The posters, the magazines...everything looks too simple for me. I'm not home now but I'm sure when I do, I'll see some itty bitty posters promoting the show. Last year you know what has the "official" poster for Glow? A damn piece of board with spray paint saying Glow. Come on!

The website aint update til about a month ago im sure cuz up to beginning march it was saying "Carnival 2008"...

Presentation is key...
it look retarded
everyone kno SVG is behind on a lot of things....if u go on imeen & look 4 vincy soca u hardly find anything but just type in trinidad u'll b amaze. CDC along with with the ministry of tourism needs 2 upgrade there system in order 4 SVG 2 b established & recognize more .........
never checked imeem but im sure it will be the same as you said. They real backward...and claimin to be the hottest...
i know the feeling man...I can't wait to come home tho...no place like home
What i think they need is someone who has close to expert knowledge about the program they use, as you say presentation is key, doing something like that it should bring out some form of creativity and i don't see a lot of it on that site, not even the font makes the postings look appealing. When i look at it especially where i can get more information about an event the list of words just turn me off from reading it...
LISTEN UP PEOPLE ! Ya'll leaving out something thing very important - at least some forget or is just a given....In this country, sweet SVG, is not what you do and what you have, is 'WHO YOU KNOW!' Stupid website, stupid poster..stupid everything..YES! I remember one year, I could have sworn I won a poster competition CDC had (not to be bias, but it was the best concept and most practical design I ever saw pass through these parts)...they make me do final changes, back 'n forth and such...then one day I show up by their office only to meet boxes of another poster already printed, that orange one with the eggshell looking thing, etc - so I quit !.....same with the site and all other forms of branding. We have a lot of talented people amongst us who ready and willing to make the effort, but in the end the ones who make the decisions with all the spending power frankly don't give a shit!...so yea, the site look CHUPIT!..but is "WHO YOU KNOW OUT HERE". else you fight-up with your ownself!
Yea, you right man. Its just ridiculous sometimes. As for the posters and stuff they have, it looks like no thought really goes into them. Its the same recycled theme every year. They really need to get they act together.
I think the website reflects badly on St.vincent and if it is indicative of the quality of work that we put into carnival in general then I think we'll never earn the title of best carnival in the Caribbean!
The CDC's budget, I'm sure would have covered the cost of getting the site done professionally but they chose to skimp on that and roll their own and they came up short!

However, it's quite easy for us to criticize without actually making an effort to do better. As I would not like to do that I would like to put my hand up to say that I am willing, if we can get a team together to attempt a better unofficial carnival 2009 website!

What I have in mind is more than a website actually but a comprehensive strategy to put vincy mas on the map!

This strategy includes a website that would include the following:

1.An attractive modern web 2.0 look
2.Information on the history of carnival and what it's all about
3.Information on current and past calypso and soca artists (a little biography and maybe some music samples)
4. Upcoming shows
5.Carnival related news
6.Live audio streams of shows (video if possible)
7.Archived audio and video so that vistors to bring carnival to the people at home and abroad in a convenient manner.
8.We can interview people at carnival shows then publish them to the site (and youtube)
9.We can create a public profile on facebook, a youtube channel and a twitter account for more promotion.
10.Social networking features so that users can log in, make friends, make comments and so on.

The site will be online all year round and in that way carnival will live on well beyond the the june-july celebrations. This is what we need!

I bring to the table server side web development skills. I can handle all that has to do with server side programming, databases and web server configuration and maintenance. Judging from the design of this site it's obvious that hot97 has talented designers. It also has a vibrant following on the web and on the radio! We'll make a great team and St.vincent will be better for it!
until u live outside st. vincent, u wont realize how small minded the leaders really are. the website look like something i cud make on frontpage in 5 minutes. they investing so much money in nonsense. and as to night life? plzzzzz i will neva come to st. vincent after carnival cuz the country night life complete ends
