Why do LIME refuse to accept that there is a conflict of interest between sponsoring carnival competitions as well as individuals competing in those same competitions?
For the last few years LIME refuse to acknowledge that there is a huge potential for a conflict of interests in their sponsorship of competitions like Soca Monarch as well as competitors within those same competitions. I cannot find in any other field of competition, particularly one that is as subjective as these are, that the principle sponsor could also field competitors that they individually sponsor without an outcry.
We have had for the last 2 months the LIME Soca Dans/Dons being featured in every aspect of carnival at the behest of LIME, who as the major sponsor of carnival, open the doors to all and every aspect of the festival including every rural carnival as well as all of CDCs events including guest spots on the same said competitions. The exposure they have gained from this is enormous and going into the competitive aspect of the festival surely gives them a huge advantage over those competitors who have not benefited from LIME's largesse.
On top of this there is the unstated, unquantifiable influence that a principle sponsor exerts on the recipient of sponsorship that causes that recipient to want to display gratitude, appreciation, etc.
I think it is in the interests of everybody for the CDC to outlaw this type of deal and force sponsors to choose either or. Ultimately the sponsors will benefit because there will be no doubts about outcomes and their public image will be protected, the festival will benefit because all competitors will PERCEIVE the results to be untinged by a sponsors hand and therefore more willing to compete.

It is proving very difficult to get any sensible response from you. As always you place yourself in the role of the underdog, downtrodden, and deserving of our empathy. Your moral authority as usual is skewered, when bias favours your side no problem, when your side is challenged, moral authority is called into question. You kinda of admit that there is a problem with the current situation but you cannot bring yourself to call a spade spade because then you would be siding with the enemy and potentially compromising your previous stance. Hiding behind 97's perceived faults doesnt in its self solve anything - and certainly doesnt make you better than us. So come on - answer the question without prejudice.

da person blind... i saw maaannnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy other artiste there who deserved to win... stewps wha kinda nonsence yall really talking... i have been playing close attention and 2010 is one if the years that i could say the field is level in terms on biases or radio stations... cuz evry body getting played... in terms of raga soca monarch..... i am still puzzled i wonderin how d hell fire man win.... bt the answer is LIME alyo doh get on dotish.... evrybody else went out dey n do dey ting... 5 points suppose 2 go to crowd response... and yer he get crowd response bt it has more criteria for judging... so i still wondering how fireman win raga soca... i sat there in the pavilion and i was taken aback and shocked when i heard them say he win.... i am merely stating my opinion here but i think that the only original person there was syxx.... evrybody else jump on stage wid dey dancers evry body do d same damn thing... n it was starting to get drawn out and weary... bcuz it seems as if for evry performance d artiste look good he dress up in his or her pretty clothes and hav some dancers behind him... syxx went ontage "loco" as his song said... fire man only had the crowd stewps... however on another note... all the complaints about carnival being boring... is bcuz carnival is nt about the ppl any more is about the sponsers and about the cheating CDC time for them to move...

Yes there is conflict of Intrest , Even Stevie Wonder can see this..let us deal with Bias , During the years when lime got back on Board with the CDC and became Sponsors of the SOCA DANS the Winner of the Soca Monarch Winner of the Previous Year would sing last , after Skinny Win it change .. Ragga soca competition how could you sponsor an artiste and the show and one of your Employee is a judge ? is that not Conflict intrest ? And when that folk song BUN DEM become a RAGGA SOCA ,we making it look like we dont have good songs in SVG .. This Man winning Soca Monarch all the time no Artiste came with no badmined/cheating song from the time he got beaten is the most badminded tune by tthe Sca Dans .
Did anybody Complain when he came on the stage and sing` wham a hoe wham a hoe` whole night no lyrics and win. Madzart had such good perfomance with `Helicopter`. let us all grow up and stop the Stupidness .

Trouble maker,why did u come out before and say that the song isn't a ragga soca?For your information the best song don't have to win I made this same point to 2 kool last year,its your performance on the night.Is it also fair to say that is because of Fireman dominance over the years that the points system was change,so that crowd response wouldn't be so much point?

Usual response and again avoiding the issue. For the record I understand that Digicel offered substantially more than Lime, and in cash but CDC decided they preferred Lime - so I doubt they will take 97s/kfc/aunt jobes money. This however is just a distraction. If it makes it any easier think about it in another scenario, say World Cup football. Imagine it was the Nike World Cup, and Nike also sponsored a team, say Brazil, should Argentina or Spain say, feel in anyway that there might be bias somewhere along the line? I will await your answer.
