Busy Signal legal troubles far from over.
Busy Signal, whose real name is Glendale Gordon, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
According to police sources, Busy Signal could be slapped with several new charges relating to passport fraud.
The dancehall star is accused of fraudulently obtaining three illegal Jamaican passports with the name Reanno Gordon. Busy Signal traveled overseas for several years carrying a passport under that name.
Busy Signal returns to court on February 14. His bail was extended.
Busy Signal returned to Jamaica in November last year, after serving a short stint in a U.S. prison for absconding bail in 2002.
In May of last year, British authorities held the deejay while he was traveling back to Jamaica from a tour in Europe. He was held on suspicion of traveling with false documents.
He was later arrested at the Norman Manley International airport in Kingston on an extradition warrant from the United States. The extradition warrant stems from a drug charge dated back to 2002.
During his trial in Minnesota in 2002 on drug trafficking charges, Busy Signal jumped bail and fled to Jamaica. He has managed to elude U.S. authorities for many years by staying clear of that country.
However, his luck ran out last year. But that stroke of bad luck gave Busy Signal a new lease on life to make a fresh start. He only served six monthsbehind bars after some hard work from his lawyers in the U.S. and Jamaica and some leniency from the judge.
