All eyes were on Frank Ocean, who made his first awards showperformance at Thursday’s MTV VMAs. The Best New Artistnominee performed a stripped-down version of his single “Thinkin Bout You” amidst a fiery and woodsy set.
His performance earned praise from Lady Gaga. “watch frank ocean steal this whole show. I’m dead,” she tweeted, while Kreayshawn was brought to tears. “Just cried via @frank_oceanperformance!” she wrote.
His Odd Future bandmate Tyler, the Creator provided some constructive criticism. “OFF TOP YOU DIDNT NEED ALL THAT EARTH WIND N FIRE AVATAR SHIT YOU HAD BEHIND YOU NIGGA, GOOD SHIT AYYYE!”
