Last week Wyclef Jean made some damning allegations against his former band mate, Lauryn Hill, with whom he had an affair with during the Fugees reign in the mid 1990s.

In his memoir, the Haitian born singer claims that Lauryn Hill leads him to believe that her pregnancy was his while she was carrying Rohan Marley’s child.

Surprisingly Rohan Marley has jumped to the defense of Lauryn Hill, saying that Wyclef’s statement is false and a “money-making ploy” to sell more copies of his book.

Speaking with TMZ, Rohan says Wyclef knew from the start that Lauryn Hill was carrying his son.

“He (Wyclef) knew from jump that was my son from the day [Lauryn] was pregnant,” Rohan Marley said.

“They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay,” Rohan added, while alluding that Wyclef and Lauryn Hill did have an affair before he came into the picture.

Rohan Marley says there were no affair between Hill and Wyclef while he was with her. He says he spent night and day in the studio with Lauryn Hill, who was working hard on her album at the time, so she would not had time for an affair with Clef.

“Just saying false things to get book headlines,” Rohan said.

Despite Rohan Marley’s remarks, Wyclef says he is telling the truth.

“There is no way that I would have shown up in the hospital in that circumstance to wait for a baby to be born if it was not mine,” Wyclef told TMZ. “The idea of a memoir is to tell the truth. I know that often the truth hurts, but a lie hurts even more.”
